For Jesus, peace seems to have meant not the absence of struggle, but the presence of love.

FOOD COLLECTION FOR ST. VINCENT DEPAUL: We hope you will join us for our Thanksgiving Mass, hosted by grade 2, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27. All children are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to this mass to care for the needy in our community. REMINDER: School is out at noon with no after care. Classes resume Dec. 2.
Father Craig is fond of quoting Peter 3:15, saying, “...be always ready at all times to answer anyone who asks, the reason for your hope.” For the last several weeks my hope comes from working with our student leadership class. These bright, heart forward young people (your children!) have several initiatives, but I wanted to especially share their focus on eco-justice. Did you know that impact from shipping and moving goods around quickly (on-line shopping) now accounts for climate impacts equal to the 6th largest country in the world? This student team is helping their peers re-imagine environmentally friendly practices for Advent. Watch this space through Advent for tips from the student eco justice leaders!
Cultivating a spirit of mindfulness for Advent can be a challenge as the cacophony of Christmas comes ringing in. If you walk through our classrooms, you will note teachers raising gentle attention to a spirit of reflection and anticipation. On Friday, Dec. 6, we will celebrate the life of the real St. Nicholas, who freed children from slavery and starvation. With many in Europe, we will expect St. Nicholas on Dec. 6, who has traditionally left secret treats and prayer cards in shoes left in the hall at St. Ignatius. Please talk with your children about this special tradition.
SAVE THE DATE: Grandparent and Special Friends morning at 10 a.m. on December 19. Hosted by the Parent Association, there will be special treats and classrooms will be open to visit your special child after the morning Christmas concert. This is always an extra special time...please join us!
HELP! We continue to seek the next right person as an aide for Extended Care. The hours are 3-6 all days but Wednesday, which is 2-6. Hours subject to school calendar. Pay is $15 an hour and requires background check, one year’s experience and enrollment in the Oregon Registry. We have a dynamic new coordinator and things are humming. Please use your social networks or have prospective applicants call the office. We are posted on Indeed and the Archdiocese.
We hope you will enjoy the coming days with family, fun and restful. The next Ignatian will be Friday, Dec. 6 and we hope to bring you an extra special surprise. Stay tuned.
In gratitude for each of your children and Blessings this Thanksgiving – Kelli Clark, Principal
