Welcome to St. Ignatius School!
Thank you for your interest in joining the St. Ignatius School community of faith. St. Ignatius School provides a Catholic faith-centered education guiding God’s children toward building a just and compassionate world. Our students are known, nurtured, and loved by the whole community as we guide them in discovering and developing their gifts and talents. In partnership with parents as the primary educators, we educate the whole child spiritually, academically, physically, and emotionally. We have served children and their families in the traditions of the Jesuits and the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary since 1908.
Together with our Jesuit parish, our school is deeply committed to social and environmental justice and service. In addition to excellent academics that prepare each child for a college preparatory high school, our students are engaged in the arts, technology, and service. St. Ignatius School is fully accredited through the Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
Thank you for your inquiry. We look forward to welcoming you to our school community in the near future. Please let us know if you have any questions or would like to schedule a tour of our school.
Peace be with you.

Our full-day program
St. Ignatius Preschool offers a fun and stimulating program that prepares students for success in kindergarten and beyond. Our classroom is a happy, busy, and hands-on learning environment. We are play-based while introducing academic skills that are developmentally appropriate for our 3- and 4-year olds. Most of all, we focus on developing kind, caring, and compassionate friendships among our students which build a cooperative classroom spirit. Through play, exploration, and personal relationships, our preschoolers get the academic preparation they need for long-term school success. Our preschool is a mixed-age classroom of 3- and 4-year-old students, with a maximum of 20 students. Our schedule mirrors that of the rest of the school – class begins at 8:30 and dismisses at 3:00pm, and families can choose between a 3-day and 5-day per week option. Preschool students are integrated into the ‘big school ‘environment. They are important members of our family groups, attend Friday morning prayer services with the rest of the school, and participate in specialist classes like P.E., music, and library – just like the big kids. Since our days are so full of fun and learning, we allow for a healthy rest time each afternoon.

Our full-day program
St. Ignatius School offers a fun and stimulating Kindergarten program that champions reading and writing. With a full-day schedule, our students spend more time learning so they are able to make greater strides in literacy, math, general learning, and social skills. With a full day, our teachers have the time to get to know their children, and to tailor their instruction to each student’s learning style and needs. Our teachers encourage advanced students with more challenging work, while giving those who are still developing their skills the leg up that they need. All of our students come out of Kindergarten with a solid foundation for success in 1st grade and beyond.
Our Teaching Team
Our Kindergarten teaching team consists of lead teacher Christine Dulley, and instructional assistant Gerry O'Brien.

Our Kindergarten teaching team consists of lead teacher Christine Dulley, and instructional assistant Gerry O'Brien.
- Ms. Dulley has been teaching kindergarten since 2010 at St. Ignatius and is a graduate of the University of Portland's School of Education. Ms. Dulley integrates music and movement into all academic content areas to enliven the classroom.
- Mr. O'Brien comes to St. Ignatius School with years of experience working with children and youth. His coaching background brings a special emphasis on teamwork to the kindergarten room. Together, these two teachers create a classroom environment that is caring, creative, challenging, and fun.
The Importance of Family Groups
Our family groups are especially important for our preschoolers and kindergarteners. We place one student from each grade into a family group, and that group works collaboratively throughout the year on activities that nurture kinship. Right away, the younger students enjoy the heartfelt encouragement of the 7th and 8th graders, and quickly learn that they can trust the older students in the school. This creates a touching mentorship that inspires the primary students to look up to the older kids. Our children feel safe, welcome and included, not just in their class but in the school community as a whole.
