My name is Meghan O’Dell. I have worked at St. Ignatius School since 2022 and in K-12 education since 2003. Over the years I have been fortunate to teach Social Studies, English Language Arts, and various support classes. I am passionate about helping all students grow their confidence and celebrate their success in reading and writing.
As a member of the Learning Support Team I work closely with grade level teachers and Mrs. Chambers, the School Psychologist, to monitor students’ reading growth. My role is to help the classroom teachers provide differentiated instruction. Predominantly, I work with students in grades 1 through 5 in the area of literacy. Students typically receive instruction in phonemic awareness, spelling, reading comprehension, and building academic vocabulary. The instruction might involve working with students in their regular classroom or teaching students in small groups in the reading room.
Ultimately, our goal at St. Ignatius is to ensure all the students are growing each year in their reading skills.
