PK - 8th Grade Physical Education
The goals for Physical Education at St. Ignatius are:
Effort and sportsmanship are the keys to success in my classes. Students will not be graded on their athletic abilities. In order to encourage an appreciation for an active lifestyle and the benefits of physical activity for everyone, I base my grading on the following categories:
Preschool – 2nd Grade
The focus is on play, body movement, spatial awareness and cooperation with classmates. Students will learn and practices basic movement forms and proper techniques associated with new games and sports equipment.
Grades 3rd – 8th
The focus shifts more towards sports and strategies. Students will learn to master skills, techniques and the proper form needed to be successful in a variety of games and sports. These activities will include, but not be limited to:
- To expose students to a variety of sports and activities that will promote both mental and physical fitness and that can be incorporated into an active life style.
- Sportsmanship – to practice fair play, win humbly, and participate to the very best of your ability
- Cooperation – working together to accomplish goals
- Fitness – building the strength and conditioning that allows students to lead an active lifestyle without limitations
- Play – to have fun and develop an appreciation for physical activity

Middle School Health
The main goals for the middle school health program at St. Ignatius are:
Middle School health at St. Ignatius is designed to help students make informed and healthy decisions. This class will also present information that will further their knowledge on multiple topics in the field of health including, but not limited to:
This information will be presented using the Second Step Program. This program is designed to help students develop skills, behaviors, and attitudes that will help them in middle school and throughout their lives. The program addresses multiple aspects of a student's social, emotional and school success.
- Decrease all types of bullying
- Increase assertive communication
- Learn about & discuss the risks and consequences of substance abuse
Middle School health at St. Ignatius is designed to help students make informed and healthy decisions. This class will also present information that will further their knowledge on multiple topics in the field of health including, but not limited to:
- Empathy & Communication
- Emotion Management
- Bullying Prevention
- Goal Setting
- Substance Abuse Prevention
